Pokémon Legends: Arceus players show off incredible Gyrados Catch

Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place before the mainline game, and players are tasked with exploring the ancient Hisui region of Pokémon and documenting the many Pokémon that inhabit it.

One of the many ways Pokémon Legends: Arceus differs from past Pokémon games is how it offers players a more open world to explore, taking it up with The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild and the upcoming Kirby and The Forgotten Land compare. Wild Pokémon roam freely in this open sandbox landscape, even attacking players who get too close to them in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Not every interaction with Arceus' many different varieties of Pokémon is so unpleasant, as players can ride certain creatures to help roam the Hisui area more easily, and even share the cuteness with smaller Pokémon like Buizel hug.

Ultimately, the main goal of Pokémon Legends: Arceus is to catch these Pokémon by throwing Poke Balls at them, and Reddit user Addybng impressed their players recently with the awesome water dragon Gyrados capture. In a video clip posted to r/gaming (via ComicBook), Addybng spotted a wild Gyrados flying through the air, far from their player avatar. Undeterred, Addybng prepared a Pokeball, aimed and captured the dragon with a stunning blow. Other players were impressed with Addybng's one-in-a-million catch, and many said it convinced themselves to choose Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Even Addybng was taken aback by their sudden grasp of Gyrados and noticed that they dropped the Joy-Con controller to the ground immediately after this happened.

The critical and commercial response to Pokémon Legends: Arceus has been positive, with the game becoming the highest-rated Pokémon game on Metacritic just days after its release on Switch. This translates into high sales figures for Arceus, breaking sales records in the UK and currently topping Amazon's global charts. Critics praised Pokémon Legends: Arceus for perfecting the formula for the now 25-year-old Pokémon franchise while forging its own identity, with particular emphasis on the game's open-world design and visualization of all the different kinds of Pokémon.

Pokémon has always been a popular series for Nintendo fans, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus appears to be continuing its success, capturing its classic quests in a whole new way against the colorful backdrop of the Hisui region. Addybng was very fortunate to capture the flying Gyrados, which is certainly a record book showing how Pokémon Legends: Arceus brings the world of Pokémon to life like never before.
